Family Camp 2015

Family Camp 2015 was a HUGE success!

Over 500 people came and about 300 camped.

Luckily the rain stayed away during the day and only came during the night, which made the whole event more palatable for the campers.

There were loads of activities, all around the campsite including canoeing, climbing, archery, Zorbs, bouncy castle and bouncy assault course, block carving, arts and crafts, Scaletrix and more…….  There was also a nice empty space in the middle of Garners field for those that loved kicking a ball about, and there were plenty of them!

The cafe was constantly busy and the Snedden’s put on a great show, even baking fresh scones for afternoon tea, as well as the odd bacon roll.  In the evenings the cafe provided plenty of hot chocolate to keep souls and spirits high.

Special thanks to the Snedden’s for all their efforts in making the cafe such a success.

On Sunday we had the St Georges service, with the Farnham Brass Band.  Several awards were given out by the DC, culminating in a special award for Joan Binfield.  She received a Silver Fox award, the highest in Scouting, presented by Eric Goulding.

Father Jonathan How came from county and gave a thought provoking talk.  Waverley’s Mayor and consort were also there and were very impressed with the spirit and bond that the people of Farnham District Scouts clearly showed.

After the St Georges service free doughnuts were given out, almost causing a stampede!

Well done to all that organised the event and made it happen and run so smoothly.  Hip, hip, hooray!
