District Beaver Day – Barfield

The Beaver Scouts were at Barfield enjoying a day of activities on 13th October 2023; bouldering, aero ball, hoopla, spinners, chase the rainbow and plant prints.  Even Big Beaver joined in.

Well done to all the volunteers particularly Steve Rattan (4th) for organising the Barfield activities and our ADC- Beavers Clair Waterman for  co-ordinating the Colonies.

10th Anniversary Camp – 12th Farnham(Wrecclesham)

10th anniversary Camp – 12th Farnham(Wrecclesham)

Happy Anniversary to 12th Farnham (Wrecclesham), which was restarted after over 9 years, 10 years ago by Adam Chambers, Tony Marshall and Maria Finch, who are all still Section Leaders for Scouts, Cubs and Beavers, respectively – thank you for your support and commitment.

The Scout camp, which was open to the whole District, started on Friday with a 5km or 5 mile hike depending who you ask….and continued with a full day of activities on Saturday, a visit from the Mayor of Farnham and a fantastic campfire with skits and songs, Sunday more activities and then lots of clearing up by the leaders.

Well done to all the volunteers who made the weekend a memorable one for all.

Farnham District Scouts Volunteer RYA Safety Boat Course

Volunteers from across Farnham District Scouts performed their RYA Safety Boat Course at Hawley Lake at the weekend, necessitating extensive submergence just to cool down in the blistering 30+ degree heat.

The five volunteers, all of whom support the district water activities programme in one form or another, trailed their skills in dinghy capsize recovery, emergency communication, canoe re-floating and Standup Paddleboard recovery amongst others.

Congratulations to Tony Marshall, Bill Weller, Chris Hollidge, Colin Bland and county colleague Colin Scarff who are now prepped up to perform senior dinghy instructor and powerboat instructor qualifications.

Thank you to Dominic Getting for organising the water courses.
